Agatha and The Curse of Ishtar is an historical novel but I was quite disappointed with the plot and script,  as the story was a little confusing and lost my interest at points throughout the movie even though I am an avid mystery fan.  The film takes place in the 1920's and author Agatha Christie uncovers a series of murders during an archaeological dig in Iraq, where she goes to get over her recent divorce and to get back into her writing.   The acting is, especially the lead playing Agatha Christie, Lyndsey Marshal,  quite bland and I lost my interest and found it hard to follow the plot several times in the approx. 90 minutes of the movie.  I did like the idea that the movie was based on real historical events but that it was embellished by fictional additions of romance etc.  Agatha did actually meet her 2nd husband, a younger man, Max Mallowan, played by Jonah Hauer-King, on the dig and they married shortly later and stayed married until her death.   I have mixed feelings about this movie and feel that each should watch and judge for themselves.  Not completely terrible but not the best Agatha Christie that I have enjoyed.
