Review Detail

The first of the James Bond series, Bond, aka Agent 007, played by Sean Connery,  is sent to Jamaica to investigate the disappearance of a fellow British agent. The trail leads him to the underground base of Dr. No, who is plotting to disrupt an early American space launch from Cape Canaveral with a radio beam weapon.  Bond's adventures include an attempt on his life by a tarantula, which he kills, a drive during which assassins try to run Bond off the road, but they are the ones that crash and die, an attempt on his life by, but instead was killed by Bond. When Bond is taken to Crab Key he meets Honey Ryder who is a shell diver and there is romance and action and thrills when they encounter a flame tank disguised as a dragon, Bond and Ryder are captured and are given drugged coffee,  and just one thrilling adventure after another until Dr. No falls into the nuclear reactor pool and is boiled to death.  Bond finds Ryder, who is being held captive, frees her and they escape the island by boat just before the base is destroyed. When they run out of fuel  the Royal Navy finds them and tows them to safety.  Bond lets go of the tow rope and the pair sink down to the bottom of the boat in an embrace.

A great adventure with everything one would desire in an action movie....thrills, intrigue, romance, special effects and humor.  Sean Connery is the original Agent 007 and is the best, as far as I am concerned.  This movie introduces us not only to the main character but to the theme music that says Bond....James Bond!
