Goal is the inspiring story about a soccer player, Santiago Munez, played by Kuno Becker, who gives up everything he knows to live his dream.  Santiago is a Mexican illegal immigrant living in Los Angeles who plays football for his local team but works as a gardener with his father.  He also works as a busboy in a Chinese restaurant.  During one of his teams matches, he is approached by Glen Foy who was a former player and scout.  A trial with the club is arranged and Santiago begins saving his money for the trip to England.  His father, Hernan, played by Tony Plana, disapproves of this situation as he knows the chances of becoming a professional is slim.  In fact, his father steals his savings to buy a truck for the business.  Santiago's grandmother, Mercedes, played by Miriam Colon, secretly hands him the money he needs and convinces him to leave for England before his father finds out.  In England he has some problems with the soccer pros, the games and almost loses his place on the team because of his asthma.  His accidental friendship with the team's superstar, Gavin Harris, played by Alessandro Nivola, saves him.  A predictable, but sweet, story, played by good actors, that holds the viewers attention as it has a lot of soccer action and cameos from soccer's superstars.
