I am hardly the demographic for this movie or indeed for most of the Judd Apatow catalogue. However I will admit that a few of his films, while raucous and crude and with unnecessary profanity,  do have heart and sweetness at their core. This film’s heart is Seth Rogan’s character and he plays it so well. He is clueless, aimless and immature but you find yourself rooting for him as he tries to become more responsible and worthy of fatherhood.
Katherine Heigl is an excellent counter-balance. There is something about them together which is charming and funny. Some of the scenes are laugh out loud, while others are cringy. This film is certainly not cinema at its finest, but it is an enjoyable distraction.
