<h3>Storyline</h3><div>Six years after the first film, Jonas Taylor is involved in fighting environmental crimes and helping Mana One explore the Mariana Trench, where the Megalodon was found. He raises his teenage daughter Meiying, his uncle and Suyin's brother Jiuming Zhang, and acquires his father's company alongside wealthy financier Hillary Driscoll. Mana One is studying an 80 ft female Meg called Haiqi, who was discovered as a pup and trained by Jiuming in a reserve in Hainan.<br /><br />Jonas and Jiuming lead a routine submersible exploration to the Trench, where they encounter two large Megs mate with Haiqi. They discover an illegal mining operation led by mercenary Montes, who has a vendetta against Jonas for his imprisonment. Montes kills his crew, causing a rupture in the Trench and grounding the team's ships.<br /><br />DJ, Mac, and Mana One analyst Jess discover the rescue pod has been sabotaged, forcing the crew to use exosuits to reach Montes' station. They escape in a submersible, and they discover several Trench creatures, including the three Megs, Snappers, and a giant octopus, escape to the surface.<br /><br />Jess is devoured by a Meg, and Jonas' team escapes to Fun Island. Montes and Snappers attack, and Jonas kills Montes before being attacked by the Megs. Jiuming creates a bomb and takes over Driscoll's helicopter, which is taken down by the octopus.
