Tagline: Can the greatest romance of your life last only one night?

Before Sunrise is a 1995 romantic drama film directed by Richard Linklater and co-written by Linklater and Kim Krizan. A young man man and woman meet on a train in Europe and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna. Unfortunately, both know that this will probably be their only night together.

Ethan Hawke, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his roles in “Training Day” and “Snow Falling on Cedars,” is playing an American college student who is just 14 hours away from departing Europe and returning to the United States. Yet an accidental meeting with a French student, played by Julie Delpy (“An American Werewolf in Paris,” “Europa, Europa”), results in an impromptu and ultimately romantic trip to Vienna. While there, the two discuss their perspectives on life and love before he returns home. Their passionate first kiss, which took place against the picturesque backdrop of old-world Europe, was awarded the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. An insightful and emotionally gripping love story written and filmed by the critically renowned independent writer and filmmaker Richard Linklater.
