I have to say, this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.  It's sick, boring, and not funny.  It goes down as one of the worst sequels as well.  The original, Fletch, is a great movie.  Too bad everyone sold out and made this sequel.  I do recommend seeing the original Fletch though.

Fletch Lives is a riotous sequel that brings back Chevy Chase in his iconic role as the wisecracking investigative journalist Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher. Directed by Michael Ritchie, this film retains the sharp wit and clever humor of its predecessor while expanding the absurdity of Fletch’s escapades.

The story finds Fletch returning to his roots in Louisiana, where he unexpectedly inherits a plantation. True to his nature, he quickly gets embroiled in a web of intrigue involving murder, corruption, and a cast of eccentric characters. Chase’s performance is a masterclass in comedic timing, effortlessly delivering one-liners and engaging in outrageous situations that keep the audience laughing throughout.

What sets Fletch Lives apart is its blend of slapstick humor and clever satire. The film pokes fun at Southern stereotypes while weaving in elements of mystery, keeping viewers on their toes. The plot, while somewhat convoluted, provides a perfect playground for Fletch’s trademark antics, and the sheer unpredictability of the narrative adds to its charm.

Supporting characters, such as the dubious locals and a love interest played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, add depth and hilarity to the story. The chemistry between Chase and the ensemble cast enhances the film’s comedic appeal, making every scene enjoyable.

While Fletch Lives may not reach the heights of the original Fletch, it successfully captures the spirit of the character and delivers a fun, entertaining ride. The film’s blend of humor, mystery, and Chase’s charismatic performance ensures it remains a beloved entry in the comedy genre. If you’re looking for a lighthearted romp filled with laughs, this sequel is definitely worth a watch.
