Plot
Now, an unanticipated but joyful occurrence is about to bring together the mortal kingdom of Ulstead and the fairy-realm of the enchanted Moors. Five years have gone since the death of the deceitful ruler King Stefan in Maleficent (2014), and now, an event that was not anticipated is going to bring about this union. However, once again, vile treason stands in the way of genuine young love. Men's souls are filled with ignoble thoughts, unbridled ambition, and venomous envy, all of which lead to the development of these thoughts. At this moment, two worlds that are geographically close to one another find themselves divided by fear and prejudice, and unfortunately, the imminent unification opens the path for a full-scale confrontation. Both the gorgeous winged sprite Maleficent and the lovely Princess Aurora find themselves caught in the heart of the situation instantly. Does love always have a happy ending?

Editor review
- The film grossed $491.7 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of around $185 million.
- This was a significantly lower global box office performance compared to the first Maleficent film, which grossed over $758 million worldwide in 2014.
- While the movie performed decently in some international markets, it underperformed at the North American (US and Canada) box office, earning only $113.9 million against expectations of a stronger domestic showing.
- The film received generally mixed reviews from critics, with praise for the visual effects and performances but criticism for the convoluted plot and pacing.
So in summary, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil made decent money globally, but fell short of matching the commercial success of the original Maleficent film from 2014. It was a mixed result that did not live up to Disney's hopes for the sequel.
