This movie came out in 1985, and not to be confused with Jim Carrey's, The Mask from the 90s.  Mask is based on a true story.  Sam Elliot plays a cool biker who has a relationship with Cher's character.  The acting by everyone in this movie is top notch.  The movie flows really well, and the story is both very good and emotional.  I won't tell you what happens in the end, but let's just say it is extremely emotional.
This movie ages really well.  Eric Stoltz plays the main character and does an amazing job.  If you have never seen this movie, it is a must see.  It is one of my top ten favorite films of all time.  The movie may teach you something as well!

The Mask (1994) is a vibrant explosion of comedy and visual effects that catapulted Jim Carrey into the comedy stratosphere, showcasing his extraordinary talent for physical humor and charismatic performances. Directed by Chuck Russell and based on the Dark Horse Comics series, this film is a delightful romp through the realms of slapstick and fantasy.

Carrey stars as Stanley Ipkiss, a mild-mannered bank clerk who stumbles upon a magical mask that transforms him into a manic, green-faced trickster with cartoonish abilities. Carrey’s performance is a tour de force of elastic expressions, frenetic energy, and inventive physical comedy. His portrayal of the Mask—brimming with exaggerated antics and outrageous humor—is both charming and hilariously memorable, solidifying his status as one of the era’s most distinctive comedic talents.

The film’s special effects, while dated by today’s standards, were groundbreaking at the time. The CGI and practical effects work together to create a visually engaging experience that complements the Mask’s over-the-top persona. The blend of live-action and animation adds a whimsical quality that aligns perfectly with the film’s tone.

Cameron Diaz makes her film debut as Tina Carlyle, bringing a blend of charm and glamour that contrasts well with Carrey’s frenetic energy. Their chemistry is both playful and romantic, adding depth to the film’s comedic core. The supporting cast, including Peter Riegert and Amy Yasbeck, provides solid performances that enhance the film’s light-heartedness.

The Mask is not just a showcase of Jim Carrey’s comedic prowess; it’s also a clever satire of the superhero genre, blending elements of classic cartoon antics with a modern twist. The film’s script, laden with puns and zany one-liners, keeps the humor brisk and engaging, making it a fun watch for audiences of all ages.

In summary, The Mask is a high-energy comedy that remains a testament to Jim Carrey’s unique brand of humor. Its inventive visual style and Carrey’s unforgettable performance make it a standout film of the 1990s, offering a blend of laughter, fantasy, and spectacle that continues to entertain long after its release.
